Emily Freeland is the Education Outreach Instructor on the Verizon Innovative Learning Explorer Lab. Chrysta Ghent is an instructor on the MdBioLab. She has a BS in Earth and Space Science Secondary Education from Towson University and is certified to teach Earth and Space Science in Maryland. After teaching in Baltimore City, she attended Penn State University to work on a PhD in Science Education and is continuing to work on her dissertation in informal education. Her passion for teaching and science led her to the MdBio Foundation and the mobile lab in the summer of 2016.

Ali Main is an Event & Travel Coordinator for the MdBio Foundation. She holds a M.P.S. in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown University and a B.S. in Music Industry & Management from Lyndon State College. Throughout her studies, she has coordinated many events ranging from community programs, concerts, and fundraisers to large-scale music festivals and indoor sporting competitions. In the summer, she directs a youth camp in Northern Vermont, providing high-school aged students the opportunity to learn about the entertainment industry. Her passion to educate youth and produce events led her to the MdBio Foundation in January 2017. Out of the office you will find her seeking out new musical performances or playing her guitar.

Benedetta Naglieri is the Verizon Innovation Lab Education Program Manager. She received her PhD in molecular biology from Columbia University and worked as a post-doctorate researcher at the National Institutes of Health studying gene regulation. She developed a passion for informal science education while volunteering as a science instructor. She has since worked with numerous organizations promoting STEM education including the Children’s Science Center in Herndon, Virginia and the Liberty Science Center. In her free time, she enjoys running and is a rabid fan of classic movies.

Dana Pauley is the Director of Development and Marketing and joined MdBio Foundation in July 2015. Her experience in development covers a wide array of responsibilities involving grant writing, annual fund work, special events, and major gifts for organizations including Planned Parenthood and the United States Naval Academy Foundation. Joe Wilkerson is the MdBioLab Manager. Joe’s experience in the field of environmental science and passion for STEM education led him to MdBio Foundation in August 2015. He received his M.S. in Environmental Science and B.S. in Biology from Christopher Newport University, where he researched hybrid striped bass aquaculture. He is an avid tournament fisherman and when not in the lab he is often searching local waterways for largemouth and smallmouth bass.
